The design featured a long rectangular one-tier cake with Lambeth-inspired styling and dramatic vertical wafer paper ruffles. Although Lambeth is rooted in vintage cake design, it has made a beautiful comeback in today’s weddings.
This custom wedding cake was handmade at Afsheed Cakes and Sweets, our boutique luxury home bakery in Calgary, Alberta. For flavour, the couple chose a rich red velvet cake paired with orange blossom and cream cheese filling. It was a refined combination that tasted just as special as the design looked. This stunning wedding cake was ordered with so much care by the mother of the bride for one of the most meaningful days a family can share. We designed two tall tiers, stacked elegantly, and filled them with fresh strawberry buttercream made from organic local strawberries. Every bite was soft, rich, and full of bright summer flavour. To serve a large celebration of more than 150 guests, the cake was paired with one and a half full slabs. This gave the couple the beauty of a showstopping tiered cake and the ease of serving dessert to everyone. It was a thoughtful choice, and it worked beautifully. We delivered and set up this custom wedding cake in Calgary at the stunning Loft at Calgary Farmers’ Market in the NW. The venue is modern, stylish, and full of light. So, we created a design that felt romantic and natural. The cake was finished with handmade buttercream texture and decorated with fresh flowers in yellow, maroon, and white to match the wedding theme.
